Happy Easter Lola & Denali!!!

Easter was quite low key around our house. We had a busy busy Saturday and didn't end up going to Easter Vigil with Grandma. I don't know that Chris would have anyhow being that last years was almost 3 hours long!! Grandma is die hard though and somehow convinced Kay to go again this year... after she swore she wouldn't last year. Haha.

Sunday we went to brunch with Uncle Stan and enjoyed Opening Day Red Sox vs. Yankees. Of course Grandma Katherine couldn't let the holiday go by without spoiling us. She sent a package to the dogs and included a little treat for us. Lola LOVES opening packages from her Grandma! :)

And because we didn't post it earlier, here's more proof of how much Lola loves her holiday toys from Grandma Katherine. This is her   Valentines Day Caterpillar. We came home to them laying on the couch together! We call it her boyfriend, they are inseperable.

Canada eh!

Continuing Sarah's month long birthday celebration we took a long weekend and went up to the Great White North. It was a fantastic trip and we both really enjoyed Vancouver. The city was still bustling with pride from the Olympics and the big hockey win. Everyone in that city was unbelievably nice everywhere we went. The first night we were there we went to the Tim McGraw and Lady Antebellum concert. It was in the BC Place where the Vancouver Canucks play and the concert was one of the best that Sarah and I have ever been to. They, along with the Lost Trailers played for nearly four hours. The accoustics and vibe in the arena were both incredible. Sorry no pictures of that, someone decided not to take the camera to the concert. We have a ton of mental pictures though.

The rest of the days we were there we enjoyed the city and did some exploring. The weather cooperated and we did some minimal shopping, spent an afternoon at the Vancouver Art Museum checking out the Davinci exhibit, a day over to Granville Island, and an afternoon enjoying the Capilano Suspension Bridge. The Suspension Bridge was really impressive, but not the best place to spend some time if you are afraid of heights. It is one of the longest and highest suspension bridges in the world and is about 250 ft above the river below. The whole park around the bridge was full of fun things to do and look at. There was a tree top adventure which had a series of mini bridges that went from tree top to tree top and provided some beautiful views of the landscape and the bridge. There was even a trout pond! No fishing though.

Granville Island is a little piece of paradise that is just outside the main city of Vancouver. You can either drive over or take the aquabus which proved to be pretty cool. Granville is a really artsy area that has all types of vendors and different shops and restaurants. It also has a public market that I have to say, even being from Seattle, puts Pike Place to shame. It was a ton of fun and one of my favorite parts of the trip.

Like I said, everyone in Canada was incredibly helpful and pleasant. It was a very different vibe than you find anywhere I've been in America and we really loved it. We even noticed that the guy on street signs at the cross walk was more happy than the U.S. guy.

The trip did comfirm how much we love our sushi place here in Bellevue. We were told that the best place in town to get sushi was just a short drive away and was in a little store front just like ours here so decided to check it out. We were told to be there right at five when they open or risk having to wait for a table. Well, we showed up fifteen minutes before it opened and there was a line half way down the block! We ended up waiting about 45 minutes, not terrible, but suprizing. The sushi was good, but not as good as our place. I think I would have been disapointed if it was.

All in all, a fantastic trip. Happy birthday month babe!

My bday vacation for fun in the sun!!

First, sorry it's been so long since we've updated. I don't know what happend to March, it flew by so fast! Early in the month was my birtday and my great friend Lisa and I were in desperate need for some sun. It all came together and we planned a trip to Barbados with an overnight in New York City on the way back to Seattle. It was everything we could have asked for and then some. Our itinerary always seemed full and our activites kept us having so much fun. We spent time exploring the island gullies and caves, diving, snorkeling with sea turtles, island hopping via catamaran, and deep sea fishing among others. It was AWESOME!!! New York on the way back was a culture shock, as we went from one extreme to another. It is a spectacular city (with a really disgusting baseball team, GO SOX) and I can't believe how much we saw and how well we did with so little time! I've spent about 3 solid weeks peeling like crazy and recovering from the sun, but still retained a bit of tan and would go through it again in a heartbeat. My first girls vacation was exactly what I needed and I couldn't asked for a better partner in crime! Barbados was most certainly the first of many adventures Lisa and I will have. :) Here are some (okay a lot of) pictures:
